Benefits Of Drinking Water

Why Drinking Water Is Good For You

Drinking enough water is a very important part of my daily routine. It ensures I keep my body well hydrated and helps keep my skin looking young and fresh. With hopefully the summer being just around the corner for us this is probably the most important part of the year to keep ourselves well hydrated.

‘It’s recommended that women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid and men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid per day. That’s about eight glasses of 200ml each for a woman, and 10 glasses of 200ml each for a man.

Water makes up around two – thirds of the weight of a healthy human body. Without enough of it dehydration can set in causing headaches, lack of energy, dry mouth and feeling lightheaded to mention a few. Drinking enough water in our daily routine helps our blood carry the essential nutrients around our body and help get rid of waste making our bodies run smoothly like a well oiled machine.

How I like to enhance my water!

First thing every morning I love to have a mug of hot water with a slice of lemon. Not only is it very refreshing and delicious but it also helps kick start the digestion process for the day! It can also help cleanse your system and boost your immune system and help your skin glow!

If you have visited Aspen Therapies for a treatment you will know that I love to add a little elderflower cordial to the water with some ice to make it nice and chilled. The benefit of elderflower is not only within the flavour and aroma. It’s also potentially beneficial in reducing the duration of colds and flu and can also reduce the effect of sinusitis.

After my dinner I always sit down to a warm cup of Green Tea infused with peppermint. It does wonders for your whole body, from the tips of your hair to your toes! Also having a cup before bed has proven to give you a more tranquil sleep.
